The calendar component allows you to keep track of your appointments, meetings, and activities, as well as share them with your coworkers.

Aside from utilising NEW, there are additional ways to make a new appointment. The first involves clicking on the appropriate day and time on the calendar. The only difference is the start (and finish) date and time: pressing the button sets them to the current date and time, whereas clicking the calendar takes them from the clicked date and time.

Alternatively, you may open an existing appointment, clone it, and modify only the essential data, such as the date and time, rather than creating a new one and filling out all of the details. This option is handy when you need to plan recurring events without a set timetable.

When an account is configured with several identities, you may select which one to issue invites from: the e-mail sender will be automatically filled in based on the identity selected.

Attendees, whose presence is either required or optional, can be added by providing their email address. If the attendee is already unavailable or has an overlapping appointment, the e-mail address will be highlighted and a notice will be shown. This enhances and simplifies the development of events.

Aside from inviting guests (internal or external), an appointment might include a variety of other information:

  • The location of the conference (typically a town or city)
  • If the administrator has set it, a drop-down menu can be used to pick one or more meeting rooms and equipment.
  • If the appointment is private or not. If so, none of the information are available to other coworkers who have access to the participants’ calendar.

If the invitation was not delivered or anything went wrong, the event will appear on the calendar, but with a red symbol. An attendee can suggest a new time. In this situation, a new e-mail will be created and sent to the other participant notifying them of the change.

When you right-click on an event in the calendar, you may do a variety of things, like open it and see all participants and information, modify, copy, or relocate it, and view the original, plain text version.

Tags can also be applied to any calendar event, and the event itself can be tentatively accepted or denied.

Searching for events is simple: type a search term into the fast search field to see the first set of results. By default, all matches from the previous and future 30 days are displayed. To extend or narrow the search, click the ADVANCED FILTER box and change the start and end dates using the date selectors. Optionally, add other keywords to the search.

Shared calendars

You may also search for calendars shared by your coworkers by clicking Shared Calendars in the left-hand columns, then the FIND SHARES option. In the dialogue that appears, input the colleague’s (partial) name, then select a colour, and lastly click ADD.

The calendar will appear in the list of calendars, with all appointments shown; adjust their visibility by clicking the checkbox.

You may also share your calendar with your coworkers (internal users, within the company) or with other individuals: Right-click the calendar you want to share, then select Share Calendar and specify how you want to share it. By default, only public events will be shared; private events will never publish their content, regardless of whether they are Free or Busy. If you wish to see all of a private’s event information, tick the box. Then, select the role, i.e., whether the individual may just view your events, edit them (add, change, delete), or completely manage them (accept and re-share invites and appointments on your behalf

To complete the sharing, you may send a notification to the individual with whom you wish to share the calendar or include a custom message.

Configure a CalDAV Client

Adding a Carbonio calendar to your chosen CalDAV client is simple and only takes a few clicks. The technique is virtually same for each customer; the changes are listed in the box at the end of this section.

In this instance, the user john.smith@example.com wishes to set up a calendar called Calendar on the domain mail.example.com using Mozilla Thunderbird. In the remainder, replace these values with appropriate ones.
