Extractor of External Content

The external content extractor recognises and extracts information and text from over a thousand file formats (including PPT, XLS, and PDF). All of these file types may be processed using a single interface, making it helpful for search engine indexing, content analysis, translation, and a variety of other tasks.

Why should you use Tika Server as a content extractor?

Zextras makes use of the Tika library, which runs on the same Java Virtual Machine (JVM) as the mailbox. You may have numerous Tika servers indexing material apart from the mailbox using the Tika server. In the event of a Tika server crash, the mailbox JVM is unaffected.

Changing to the Tika Server

Tika server can be run as a Docker container on the same server as the mailbox, or on other servers that Zimbra can access.
